Artec 3D launches Artec Point II, the next generation of its metrology-grade laser scanner

Global 3D scanning hardware and software leader Artec 3D has announced Artec Point II, the successor to Artec Point, its target-based handheld laser scanner for industrial metrology. With an expanded laser configuration, Point II captures up to 5.8 million points per second — more than double the original — letting operators gather denser, more detailed 3D data in every pass and complete scans faster, with the same certified 0.02 mm accuracy that established Point as a trusted metrology tool.

This expanded configuration significantly increases the number of laser lines projected in each mode — 54 in ultra-fast scanning and 17 parallel lines in hyperfine mode — so each pass captures more surface data for efficient, detailed digitization. Operators switch between three modes at the touch of a button: ultra-fast scanning for rapid capture across larger surfaces, hyperfine parallel scanning for intricate detail, and a single-laser mode for deep holes and hard-to-reach features. Together, the three modes are engineered to scan objects from small components to large assemblies.

“Artec Point set a high bar for accessible, certified metrology. Point II raises it — more data in every pass, greater detail, and faster scans, with the same accuracy professionals have come to rely on,” said Art Yukhin, President and CEO of Artec 3D.

Point II’s accuracy and repeatability are verified in an ISO-certified lab, and it’s compliant with VDI/VDE 2634 and JJF 1951 standards for reliable, metrology-grade results regardless of operator skill — the assurance quality teams need to verify parts against tight tolerances. Lightweight and ergonomic, the palm-sized scanner can be operated one-handed and tilted into confined areas. IP50-rated for dust protection and built for a −10 to 40 °C operating range, it is ready for demanding industrial environments across manufacturing, mold-making, energy, and heavy industry.

Like every Artec 3D scanner, Point II is fully integrated with Artec Studio, the company’s professional 3D scanning and processing software, whose advanced algorithms streamline data processing. It can also be paired with other Artec 3D devices to combine their strengths within a single project — from reverse engineering to quality inspection.

Artec Point II is available immediately through Artec 3D’s global network of certified partners, replacing Artec Point in the company’s metrology lineup.
