FARO INSIGHT Sharpens Blink’s 360° Imagery and Point Cloud Performance in Latest Release

Free firmware update brings richer scan data and faster workflows to every Blink in the fieldFARO® INSIGHT, a business of AMETEK®, Inc., has introduced new enhancements to its FARO Blink Imaging Laser Scanner : sharper 360° imagery, richer point cloud data, and faster processing workflows. The release continues the development cadence Blink has followed since its April 2025 launch, shaped by customer feedback, and is available to every existing Blink through a free firmware update.

Blink pairs high-quality point cloud data with 360° images to create a clear, accurate view of any environment, with guided workflows and automated registration that keep work moving from capture to final delivery. It operates within a connected environment: the Stream App gives real-time feedback during capture, FARO Sphere XG enables cloud-based processing and collaboration, and SCENE  keeps data local for registration, analysis and quality control.

“Customers need reality capture that is easy to use, delivers clear results and fits into everyday workflows,” says Jerry Hardy, Director of Integrated Marketing, FARO INSIGHT. “Every release since launch has built on that foundation. This one sharpens the data our customers rely on and speeds up how it moves through their projects.”

What’s in the Latest Release

The release builds on the two things at the heart of every reality capture project: data quality and speed. Blink now delivers richer point cloud output and sharper, better-balanced 360° images, while faster transfers, improved file handling and more efficient processing keep data flowing smoothly between field crews and stakeholders.

Every improvement arrives through a free firmware update, so a scanner bought at launch gains the same capabilities as one shipped today. It reflects FARO INSIGHT’s commitment to growing Blink’s value throughout its working life.

Making Reality Capture More Accessible

Accessibility has defined Blink since day one, with guided scanning that helps users produce consistent, dependable results with minimal training. This release continues that approach, putting capture, viewing, and sharing within easy reach of designers, builders, surveyors, operators, and public safety teams alike, despite scanning experience.

“In reality capture, everyone wants clean, high-quality data that’s captured quickly, communicated clearly, and easy to work with, backed by partners committed to success. FARO INSIGHT’s continuous product innovation enables me to exceed client expectations, deliver unique services, and sleep easy at night.”
