EOS Expands Aluminium Additive Manufacturing Portfolio Through Strategic Partnership with Constellium

This partnership combines EOS’ expertise in AM technologies, materials,  global deployment and industrialization with Constellium’s proven capabilities in advanced aluminium alloy development. The collaboration extends beyond these two materials and establishes a long-term framework for the development of next-generation aluminium alloys for additive manufacturing.

For customers, the partnership expands access to advanced aluminium materials to EOS metal systems and AMCM metal Systems with validated process parameters and application expertise, enabling faster qualification and supporting reliable industrial-scale production.

“This partnership represents a unique opportunity to bring next-generation aluminium alloys into industrial additive manufacturing at scale. By combining Constellium’s alloy development expertise with EOS’ leadership in AM, we aim to accelerate innovation and unlock new high-performance applications for customers worldwide.”
Ludovic Piquier, Senior VP, Manufacturing Excellence and CTO at Constellium.

With the addition of EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1, EOS further strengthens its materials portfolio for industrial applications, it will be available from EOS in August 2026.

Main Benefits of EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1

  • Higher strength compared to traditional alloys, combined with good elongation
  • Simplified heat treatment with no quenching required and flexible heating and cooling cycles
  • Good thermal stability for demanding industrial applications
  • Free of volatile elements such as Mg and Zn, supporting stable processing at high laser power and increased productivity
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Good electrical and thermal conductivity
  • Easily anodized and well suited for electrochemical polishing

Typical Applications

  • Heat exchangers
  • Semiconductor industry applications such as heat sinks and wafers
  • Components requiring high-quality surface finishing, polishing, and anodization
  • Parts exposed to corrosive environments as an alternative to coated traditional alloys
  • Lightweight structural components with moderate mechanical load requirements

Many existing AlSi10Mg applications can benefit from EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1’s improved processing characteristics and performance advantages, offering manufacturers an affordable, high-performance solution.

Complementing the aluminium alloy portfolio, EOS Aluminium Constellium Al5X1 provides a high-strength, high-elongation, and anodizable solution for demanding aerospace, transportation, and motorsport applications.

“With EOS Aluminium Constellium CP1, EOS Aluminium Constellium Al5X1, and our partnership with Constellium, we are setting a new benchmark for aluminium in additive manufacturing. Together, we are enabling higher performance, greater productivity, and faster industrial adoption for our customers.”
Joachim Zettler, Chief Technology Officer, EOS
