Hello everybody, this is going to be a very interesting session today and today we will have an interview with Mr. Ravindra Kapse, who is the director and also the co-founder of Surgeon Intelligent Solutions and the company is actually dealing in AR, VR, XR and also digital twin and it’s a very interesting space to be in and we will get to learn from Mr. Ravindra about the journey of the technology that he has been imparting across sectors and specialization in terms of how it is actually adding value and creating proper solutions which can be addressed in terms of the problem statement addressed for various sectors and industry that he is reaching out to.

Dr. Shibu :

Hello Mr. Ravindra, it was a pleasure connecting with you. May I know from you Mr. Ravindra, how is AR, VR, XR and MR as a technology that everybody is known now is gaining traction in India and what is the prospect of this technology to see that how it is going to benefit various sectors industry in the country and what is the penetration level of this technology currently in India?

Ravindra :

Okay, first of all about AR, VR, MR, XR, these terms are even though it is new but the journey started a long back.

So in India, it started around what I would say about before AR, VR, XR, these immersive experiences, we had enough awareness about the digital or you can say CGI and it is only known for the entertainment and gaming segment but as a technology evolving, this 3D environment is becoming a language and through XR, we are experiencing this language and communicating for the technology and when I say experiencing, the experience domain itself has a 360 angle and real-time interactivity through AR, MR, XR and that made possible to evolve the experience on next level. So now it is not only limited to what you can say entertainment but it is entertainment at the same time infotainment and the domain we got is industrial domain, medical segment, educational segment and initially it is for the training and education is what I can say a very high demand for this technology.

Dr. Shibu :

Yeah, Mr. Ravindra, I need to know from you, it is for also our viewers, where did this all start Mr. Ravindra? I mean how did you conceptualize the idea of promoting AR and VR and how did it all start? Okay, it’s a good question and how did I start? I didn’t start AR, VR directly.

Ravindra :

My journey in this, what I see is AR, VR is not only the technology but it is the blend and the composition of creativity and the technology. I mean my background, academically my background is from JJ School of Art and specialize in sculpture and modelling and at that time my understanding about this is only the next level of graphics which is going to use for advertising and the entertainment segment. But as this technology is evolving, my passion for having my graphics especially for the characters I am developed as a modeler, my desire was to interact with the interact the characters according to the users.

That is the next level for the gaming industry entering and then it didn’t stop. I worked for the game companies and then next my desire was how I can see my characters interacting with the life. That is VFX and in that domain I worked for Prime Focus where I got opportunity to work for many well-known Bollywood movies.

It’s around more than 75 movies and 350 ad films I have contributed. But then every year, every six months, every quarterly technology is getting evolved. At that time when I started, the configuration was 64 MB RAM, 4 GB hard disk.

Now if you see at that time server is having 35 GB hard disk. Now this overall technology is so evolved even mobile phone has more configuration than the server. This is the evolution journey.

So according to techno evolution, the aspect and the things towards the technology has changed. Now 3D is not only limited to entertainment or gaming but 3D itself becomes a language to communicate and because of AR, VR, XR, it made possible to experience that language and communicate effectively and engaging way, entertaining way. And because of that virtually and digitally it is made possible to communicate through 3D environment remotely and have that experience what the real world we have while interacting.

So this is made possible only because of AR, VR technology because this technology made possible to have that real time interaction and experience even the users are remotely somewhere else. So distance and places are not the constraint and the possibility has even expand the limitless. Now AR, VR and graphics is not only limited for the entertainment but also for the edutainment, also for the infotainment.

And this made the training made possible very effectively even in medical segment, heavy engineering, all the trainings, all the experience where the what you can say risk is involved, cost is involved. Everywhere we are now using AR, VR, XR and the future is endless what I see is.

Dr. Shibu :

Mr. Ravindra, I would also like to understand since there are the AR, VR, there are a lot of companies now in the space.

How are you different from the other companies and what is your vision for 2030 and what is the kind of penetration and how do you want to see this gain traction for your company going forward?

Ravindra:

Okay, as I mentioned that technology evolving from 2D to 3D and there is no bonding and 3D itself become a language and XR technology is converting that language into experience. So what I see is the sky is the limit as a possibility but for the possibility what I can say the industry like engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, architecture, defense, all these industries wherever the risk is involved and wherever is distance is matter because of this technology made possible to resolve this issue remotely effectively. This is one thing apart from this 3D plus AR, VR, XR plus AI plus digital twin technology that made this possibility even a next level right wherever the risk is involved like a space technology or maybe offshore oil refinery problems where the live risk is involved there we can control everything as if the operations is happening in the real world and that is made possible because of digital twin technology.

Another example for heavy engineering, heavy engineering devices training, heavy engineering devices problem solving any technical issues are happening that can made possible because of the virtual environment where the people can merge into that environment, communicate and interact with that virtual environment as if it is operate in the real world and because of sensors and all other technology it made possible to connect those virtual world in the real world and real world is going to operate according to the digital virtual world.

Dr. Shibu :

So, Mr. Ravindra also wanted to know from you what is your experience and what do you feel about 3DGraphy as a platform and 3DGraphy news as we propagate this information to all the respondents across sectors who would benefit from this technology. Yeah, it’s really great because I really amazed and happy that you are putting the efforts and becoming a bridge to connect end user to the and the people like us who are developing these new technologies.

Ravinder :

Being an expert is different and getting into business and connecting with the right end users you are doing a really great job. Thank you so much. It was really nice having all these inputs from you and wishing you very best for your subsequent products which I am sure you mentioned about the IPs.

Dr. Shibu :

So, I will not want to get in much there but wishing you all the very best and for all the productive efforts that you are making with the technology and all the very best. Thank you so much. Thank you.
